When people ask me how do I motivate myself, I realized something today. My current training has a built in reward. That reward is performance. It’s doing a higher cadence of kettleball snatches, turkish get upping heavier, trying things and not failing at them, working toward a goal like muscle-ups, and seeing my reaction time improve and become more weapon-like when I spar.
The less I interfere with my body, the more it changes. The more I punish it the less it does.
I see a lot of girls on here punishing their bodies for not being the bodies they want. I see a lot of people running because someone once said that running is the only way to lose weight. I see a lot of people eating nothing because it’s the only way they know how. You are punishing your bodies. STOP IT.
Stop hating your body. It is not your body’s fault that it isn’t what you want it to be. Embrace what it is. Find out what it can DO. You may be the perfect built to be a weightlifter, maybe you’d be a really good swimmer. You might be a natural dancer or martial artist. You might love to cycle. Go rockclimb, or do parkour. Run if you want to run. Do something that has a built in reward. Stop punishing your body because it doesn’t fit a mold you want it to.
Aaaahhh refreshingly perfect!

That would be Big Fat Failure! Lol!
So much for running 50 miles in the month of May! I have been a bit off my game this past week and the coming week doesn’t hold much more promise as far as running goes…
I’m vacationing in the Caribbean and while I do intend to run, I do not intend to run enough to get me to the 50 mile mark.
Sooooo, I’m putting that goal on layaway! Picking it up in June!
I will run at least 50 miles in the month of June!

Just run. The real purpose of running isn’t to win a race; it’s to test the limits of the human heart.Bill Bowerman, Head Coach of University of Oregon Track Team (1948-1973), One of the founders of Nike. (via runningaddiction)(Source: losingitall, via eelovestorun)
38 - 3 = 35 miles to go…

I forgot to do my math post-race yesterday!
41 - 3 (won’t bother w/the .2) = 38
38 measly miles to go!
ATL Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure 2011
I DID NOT DIE!!! It’s time to set a little higher standard. First 5k in the books and it went off without a hitch. It WAS NOT especially easy. I would venture to say nearly 2/3 of the course was uphill if that’s possible.
It WAS fun and invigorating! The phenomenal energy of the crowd (17,000 entrants) and my own adrenaline carried me most of the way. I think I’ll look for another 5k to run in June. My 10k is just around the corner. Feeling ever so slightly badass!!! ;0)
